1. What makes CampaignTail different?

CampaignTail is the only URL builder and URL shortener platform that is integrated with Google Analytics. We provide you with an easy way to build, shorten, and see the success of your campaigns. CampaignTail gives you the ability to build not only UTM parameters, but custom parameters. We are a Google Analytics partner and can be found within the Google Analytics Partner Directory.

2. Can I import existing UTM campaign URL into CampaignTail?

Yes. We currently only support importing the full UTM URLs.
Example:
https://campaigntail.com/Blog/URL-Shorteners-Link-Management-Government/?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=test

You can import campaign URLs from the dashboard.

3. Can I export my campaign URLs?

Yes. We currently support exporting to CSV and Excel. You can export campaign URLs from the dashboard.

4. How do I view data from my Google Analytics account?

You must have at least read/analyze access to your Google Analytics account. Check with your Google Analytics administrator. To view the analytics for a specific campaign, click on a 'view analytics' link within the dashboard. You can also navigate to the analytics page and select the Medium/Source/Campaign from the drop-downs. Currently, the drop-downs will only populate with CampaignTail generated campaigns.

1. What standards do you recommend when building URLs?

We have a number of standards built within our platform. Here are just a few:

1. Force all values to lowercase

2. Select values from drop-downs to reduce misspelling and reduce inconsistent parameter values

3. Verify the URL is valid and displays within the browser. We check this for your and alert you if the URL returns a 302 redirect or 404 page-not-found error.

4. Do not build multiple URLs with the same parameter values and use within separate campaigns. We alert you if you built a campaign URL using the same values as your team member.

2. Why should I force lowercase?

Google Analytics is case sensitive. So if you generate a URL using mixed case (e.g. Source = "Facebook") and others on your team use lowercase (e.g. Source = "facebook"), these will report separately within Google Analytics.

3. How do I add values to the campaign medium?

Navigate to Campaign Settings -> Medium. Then click 'New' near the top of the page.
